Common Tasks

I would like to add my content into Zinc

The content in Zinc is described using industry-standard Media RSS (a "feed"). Read our MRSS tutorial to get started. Feeds can be used to described a single video, a list of videos, or organized by groups. Feeds can be created by hand or dynamically generated. Our ESPN feed is a good example of a list of videos.

I want to build a feed that has several different feeds within it, organized in folders

Zinc supports hierarchy, and allows you to group and organize the presentation of your content. Read our menu feed tutorial if you want to create a page that has links to your favorite feeds, or if you want to create a multi-tiered feed. Hulu is a good example of a multi-tiered feed.

I want to customize an existing RSS feed for Zinc

Our Yahoo! Pipes / Feedburner Tutorial shows you how to use simple web services to make reddit's feed into a proper Zinc feed.

I want to remote-control enable my video page

Our javascript remote control API explains how to forward remote control commands to elements on your page.

Reference

The Zinc RSS specification has a list of all the RSS tags we parse and how they affect how your feed shows up in Zinc.

Sharing your feeds

Post links to your feeds in the "Show us your feeds" section of the forums. If we like your feed, we may include them in the main Zv Presents menu. You can also get hints and help from your fellow feed authors on how to improve your feed.
